Congressman Anthony Brindisi hosted a summit Thursday at Mohawk Valley Community College’s Rome campus, where he listened to the priorities of those involved in national defense, his office said in a statement.

Brindisi, D-Utica, is a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

“The Mohawk Valley and particularly the Air Force Research Lab in Rome plays a critical role in keeping our country safe,” Brindisi said in a statement. “We know our community is at the forefront of military technology, research and development, and we need to keep it that way. The Air Force Research Lab contributes $467 million in economic impact to the region. Today, we heard from many of those businesses, agencies, and community leaders that help keep our country safe and provide good-paying jobs in our community.”

Brindisi championed the work being done at Rome Lab and highlighted the additional funds he secured for Quantum research for Rome during the summit, his office said.

The congressman and the panelists discussed counter unmanned aircraft system technologies and other cutting-edge research and development occurring across the Mohawk Valley, Brindisi’s office said.
