Brindisi Joins Nourish NY to Hand Out Locally Sourced Food Boxes to Chenango County Families
During Global Pandemic, Congressman Teams With Local Producers To Provide Food To Those In Need
Brindisi: Producers In Our Region Make The Finest Agriculture Products Around, During These Difficult Times We Need To Support Each Other & Local Producers
Congressman Anthony Brindisi visited the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich to hand out locally sourced food boxes to families in need. Brindisi, a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, spoke with volunteers, organizers, and families about the importance of banding together and supporting each other and local producers.
“Our region is home to the finest agriculture products in the world,” Brindisi said. “Thank you to Nourish New York and all of our local partners and volunteers. It is great to see so many volunteers and local producers lending a helping hand right now. Whether it’s the Southern Tier, Chenango County, the Mohawk Valley, or the shores of Lake Ontario, our district has the toughest people in the country and we will come back from this stronger than ever.”
Earlier this month, Brindisi worked to pass the Heroes Act through the House of Representatives. In addition to wins for rural hospitals and towns, this legislation included key provisions for farmers across the country. The bill would provide more than $16 billion in direct payments to ag producers to cover losses & compensate for milk-dumping. It would also help connect family farmers to food banks & prevent needless hunger across the country.
