Washington Heeds Congressman’s Call for Bipartisan Action And Works Together To Extend Paycheck Protection Program, Release Additional Aid to Farmers & Infuse Necessary Funding To Rural Medical Institutions

Brindisi: This Deal Will Help Main Street Businesses, Hospitals, and Rural Communities

Congressman Anthony Brindisi issued the following statement after a bipartisan deal to extend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and additional aid efforts passed the House and is headed to the President’s desk.

“I am glad Democrats and Republicans worked together to provide more money for small businesses, hospitals, and our rural communities. Our country is currently in a crisis and we need people to put politics aside and move forward together. We all share the common goal of protecting our communities and providing real relief for our local economies. This deal will help Main Street businesses, our frontline health care workers, and get crucial dollars to our farms and rural communities.”

Last month, Brindisi supported the CARES Act which delivered millions to local hospitals, schools, and businesses. When funds ran dry for the Paycheck Protection Program, he called on Washington leadership to put politics aside and pass bipartisan relief for small businesses and hospitals.

Brindisi fought for and secured language in this legislation expanding a critical loan program to small farmers. Thanks to Brindisi’s efforts, the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program will now be available for farms that employ less than 500 people.

“Our farmers are doing everything they can to keep us fed,” Brindisi added. “Agriculture and our small businesses are the backbone of our economy and I am fighting to get them the relief they need.”
